5 Outdoor Pools to Get You Through The Final Stretch of Winter

After surviving two cold months of winter, we’ve started counting the days until we can ditch our heavy winter jackets, boots, scarves, gloves, hats and everything else that comes along with winter, and replace them with shorts, t-shirts and sandals! Now that we have made it to February, spring is in view! Not only is February a shorter month, it’s also the month we celebrate Groundhog Day. Will we have six more miserable weeks of winter, or is spring only a hop, skip and a jump away?

This year, groundhogs across North America predicted different results. On February 2nd, Schubenacadie Sam (Nova Scotia) and Punxsutawney Phil (Pennsylvania) didn’t see their shadows and have predicted an early spring. However, Wiarton Willie (Ontario) went against his fellow weather predictors and called for another 6 weeks of winter. This year, we’re rooting for Schubenacadie Sam, Punxsutawney Phil and an early spring!
Whether you believe in the weather predictions made by groundhogs or not, spring IS just right around the corner - only 46 days to be exact! To help you get through the last stretch of winter, here are some awesome outdoor pools to look forward to!
The first pool on our list is the Westminster Pool located in London, Ontario. This outdoor facility includes a large, heated leisure pool, along with fun, marine themed spray features perfect for children of all ages! With a zero depth beach entry, the splash zone and leisure pool are fully accessible. Even better, swimmers will find custom marine graphics on the pool floor, all designed to add to the overall experience of the facility!
This outdoor facility, located in the Niagara Region, features a 25M outdoor pool, splash pad, diving board and spiral water slide! With a zero depth beach entry and a barrier free, wheelchair accessible ramp this outdoor pool is fully accessible to all. For those looking to sit back and relax, the facility features on deck seating, sun shelters and a sound system. On a hot summer day, Thorold community pool is the place to be!
The Tioga Municipal Pool in Tioga, North Dakota has something to offer the entire family. The frog slide and other interactive and unique spray features are perfect for children of all ages to enjoy, while the water slide, diving board and lap/leisure pool are a great space for older children and adults to cool off and have a blast!
With a grand opening just over one year ago, the Rosedale Outdoor Pool was part of a 1.7 million dollar facility redevelopment plan in Hamilton, Ontario. If you’ve seen this facility, it won’t come as a surprise to learn that this pool was designed with the help of local elementary students - what a brilliant idea! This outdoor aquatic centre features a heated leisure pool, and various spray features. With a zero depth beach entrance, an accessibility ramp and the custom, giant spider spray feature, this pool is guaranteed to provide fun and excitement to families for years to come!
The Lion’s Club Pool has been a center point for recreation to the community of Stratford since the 1930’s. In 2007, the popular outdoor aquatic facility was redeveloped to meet current aquatic requirements. The new design features a 45M pool with a large concrete bulkhead creating two multi-use pools. The first pool includes a zero depth beach entry with exciting spray features including geysers, a water umbrella, dumping buckets and rain showers  while the second pool was designed as a 25M lap and leisure pool. The new design has created a family-friendly space with the ability to offer and enhance a wide variety of aquatic programs. With the addition of pool heaters, there’s no need to worry about the cooler days of the summer, the Stratford Lions Pool is the ideal temperature all summer long!
